THE STORY

When struggling Hollywood screenwriter Elliott Adams gets the note from a team of White Executives that the characters in his latest script don’t feel "authentically Black enough” he goes on the defensive and almost blows up the deal. Stepping in to mediate is his agent Lynwood, who's slick, ambitious, and eager to prove he’s not just some DEI hire. Knowing Elliott's career is desperately on the ropes, Lynwood assures the Execs that a rewrite of the draft can be completed in a record time. He then tells Elliott what the fix is: to revisit all of his characters in real life to have some authentic conversations that he can bring to the page.

Elliott reluctantly takes the prescription, but when all the most important people in his world begin calling his authenticity into question he is forced to face the messiest parts of himself. With his deadline fast approaching, he struggles with appeasing the White Execs while satisfying his own soul.
